====== Good stories ====== Over the years, I’ve read a bunch of incredibly interesting computer stories. Perhaps they should be called computer horror stories? This is //highly recommended reading//: * [[https://www.ee.ryerson.ca/~elf/hack/recovery.html|Unix Recovery Legend]] * [[https://www.hactrn.net/sra/vaxen.html|VAXen, My Children, Just Don’t Belong In Some Places]] * [[http://www.ibiblio.org/harris/500milemail.html|The case of the 500-mile email]] * Two interesting texts explaining why terminal windows are often 80×25: * [[https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1493477940352352257.html|Terminal size horse-butt story]] (this is actually a Twitter thread aggregated into an article) * [[https://web.archive.org/web/20211004123456/http://exple.tive.org/blarg/2019/10/23/80x25/|80×25]] (an archived copy of an old blog entry) They involve different levels of problems and different approaches to solving them, but they have one thing in common: they’re awesome! One good story is missing from this list because I can’t recall too many details – it involved raised floor tiles in a server room somewhere. Perhaps I’ll find it some day!
